AbstractWe evaluated the correlation of the three sexual function tests for sildenafil and dapoxetine with sexual function in healthy male subjects. In addition, we assessed the relationship between the three tests for sildenafil and dapoxetine, as well as sexual function in a group of patients with prostate-specific antigen (PSA) elevated with age. IntroductionThe primary objective of this study was to evaluate the correlation of the three sexual function tests for sildenafil and dapoxetine with sexual function in healthy male subjects. Materials and methodsTwenty-one male subjects, aged 40-80 years, were recruited in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The mean age of the subjects was 40.8 years. The mean total International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) score was 17.4 (standard deviation [SD]: 3.5). The mean age was 46.3 years. The mean IIEF-Q score was 22.5 (SD): 4.2 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 3.7-5.1); the mean IIEF-Q score was 29.8 (SD: 6.8), and the mean IIEF-Q score was 22.1 (SD: 7.3). The mean PSA level was 18.4 ng/ml (95% CI: 13.8-23.1) in all subjects. In addition, the mean PSA level was 10.2 ng/ml (95% CI: 7.3-12.0) in the subjects who were older than 45 years, while the PSA level was 10.3 ng/ml (95% CI: 5.8-16.4) in the subjects with younger age. There were no statistically significant differences in PSA levels or PSA levels between males and females. The mean PSA level and PSA levels in subjects who were older than 45 years were higher than in subjects with younger age.
